The Origins: 

The idea for this site came as I was standing my local Best Buy reviewing the stacks of HD DVD movies. I did not know which movie would look and sound better in the HD DVD format. Was Top Gun in HD *really* worth buying? How about Ocean’s 11? When I got home I tried to find webpages with reviews that imparted the essence of the HD DVD experience for a particular movie. I did not want to read technical crap about the disc or self-important reviews about how Shreck is an allegory for Sir Gawain and the Green Night. I wanted to know whether the movie is kick ass or not on a 56″ tv with multichannel surround. That night, ilovehddvd.com was born.

You would think that all movies are created equal in the HD DVD format, they are not. We are here to let you know which movies take advantage of the HD DVD standard, and which ones need some work.

Our Manifesto:

We are fans of movies. We are fans of reviews that help us determine what movies to buy. We are not fans of long winded opinions on the substance of movies that nit-pick details the average viewer does not see nor care about. We want audio that creates an environment, and images that look awesome. We want to get to the point and we want to know whether to buy a movie or not.
