Quite possibly the best HD DVD deal around. I defy you to find a better one. That picture of Chris Tucker and the asian dude screaming is quite appropriate and was my reaction when I saw this.

This is oviously not an HD DVD player clearance deal, this is a hardcore adopt the format deal. I note that the advert states you get four (4) movies in the box PLUS 5 by rebate - is this a new promo from Toshiba? If it is, I’ll take $180 woth of movies for free. According to the advert, the movies in the box are Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, Apollo 13, 300 and Bourne Identity. A Vizio TV is not the greatest, but its 1080p. I have watched HD DVDs on a Vizio before and was plesantly surpried. Unless you are an avid Monoprice.com shopper or have a stock of HDMI cables, getting the free ones is icing on the cake. Its too bad NPD won’t track these sales …

My parents are in the market for a new DVD player and LCD TV … this is just what they need.

Late last week Tiger Direct stated selling the A3 for $129. Amazon has followed suit by dropping prices on its line of players. With prices like this you mine as well pick up a second player for the bedroom and grab the free movies. Face it, even studio execs think come December 2008 the numbers wont be there for Blu-ray.

Amazon.com is currently offering what appears to be their entire HD DVD  library for sale with prices as low as $14.99. Don’t think this is some white elephant post-Warner apocalyptic sale as they are also running a similar sale on Blu-ray discs.

Now comes the low low prices on movies. I really like this move and still encourage people to purchase HD DVD. It is a superior product with a solid movie library and a lack of any decent DRM scheme. Is that why Warner switched? Now Amazon.com is offering HD DVDs for as little as 14.99. These are the HD DVDs that do not have the oppressive DRM scheme that Blu-ray does. Remember that kiddies - Blu-Ray <3 DRM!
