Unfortunately, writing this Blog is not my full time job. As such, I am not able to attend CES and must rely on others who attend to get news. That said, the picture below was apparently taken at a recent Toshiba presentation at CES. The slide is labelled “Web enabled Connectivity” and is posted on the AVS Forums  by a poster who supports dual-format (a concept we are slowly accepting). AVS is a great forum for HD DVD information and we strongly encourage anyone interested in next gen formats to check it out. Is this an HD DVD system setup to download HD content? In the picture I see studio servers and a connection to a big black box … I have not seen Evan Almighty, or whatever, on HD DVD, so I have no idea what “The Almighty Store” means. Also, the actual player looks like a new reference design …

Next Gen HD DVD?

If you have any insight, let us know in the comments.

Engadget has a rundown of the Toshiba presentation here.

I found this slide interesting:

I’ll get back to reviews tonight. With all the commotion over the Warner dumping, I have not been able to get any reviews up.

HDDVDlogo.jpgBy the title you can guess that we love HD DVD. This site is dedicated to discussing and reviewing HD DVD and movies. The focus of our reviews related to hardware will be to the ease of setup, audio connections and performance. With respect to movies we will review the performace of the movie in an HD DVD setup. Will not not review content, except to the extent it is necessary to the audio/visual aspects of the movie. for instance, the in a review of Unforgiven we may discuss the impact of sweeping landscapes in 1080 and audio sensation of rustling of grass and clinking of bar glasses in 5.1 audio.

Sit back, enjoy the reviews and enjoy the look and sound of perfect.
